Alhaurin Golf Course
Alhaurin Golf course is one of the newest courses on the Costa del Sol. It was designed by the Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros and was built in 1993.
The courses at Alhaurin Golf are located in Alhaurin El Grande just behind the Mijas mountain range and about 20-30 minutes drive from the coastal town of Fuengirola.
The brilliant and lush green of the greens and fairways really stand out from the surrounding vegetation and impressive mountainous backdrop.
The course is quite a challenge and you would do well to play to your handicap on your first visit here. It was purposely designed to rise and fall according to the natural lie of the land upon which it was built which is believe me, quite hilly. Therefore a buggy is highly recommended.
To suit all levels of play, Alhaurin Golf has 3 courses;
- One 18 hole par 72
- One 9 hole par 3
- One 18 hole par 3
Plus a Golf school for those wishing to receive a "little help" with their game!
Clubhouse facilities include;
My take on Alhaurin Golf course is that it is a "must play once" course. Because of its location, unless you are staying in Alhaurin or Coin, it is simpler to find a course nearby that would also be easier on the legs and loss of golf balls.
If you are a straight and fairly accurate hitter you will enjoy Alhaurin Golf course, but if you tend to slice or hook the ball, you may well find yourself in one of the many dips, gorges and canyons that surround this pretty course.
