Flamingos Golf Club on the Costa del Sol has been the home of The European Senior Tour Match Play Championship since 2002. It is considered by its many players to be the best setting that the last leg of the Tour could take place. Also, the Peugeot Oki Tour of Spain took place in November 2001 at Flamingos Golf Club, as well as other prestigious PGA competitions such as the PGAE Four-ball Championship during 2002, 2003 and 2004.

As you drive into the area you can't fail to notice the stunning Hotel Villa Padierna which is also a spectacular Clubhouse environment for the club's golf courses. With its two lovely restaurants "La Loggia" & "La Véranda", and their relaxing terraces, as well as conference and meeting space, bars and spa, it offers a unique and perfect place for groups and individuals to do business, have a lovely meal, celebrate an event or simply enjoy a relaxing spa treatment.
Whilst this course is a little more expensive, you will realise why when you get there. The service is second to none, the views are stunning and the course is a pleasure to play. I was lucky enough to play at Flamingos Golf Club just 3 days before the Senior PGA in 2003 and the course was in mint condition.
Since then, Flamingos have added an executive 9-hole course and are in the process of building 2 more courses that are due for opening in 2006. When these golf courses are complete and the stunning, surrounding apartments are finished, this entire area will be one of the finest golfing retreats on the Costa del Sol without doubt.
The course is littered with tree species such as Cypress, Orange, Olive, Pine, Carob, Chestnut and Pomegranate and presents innumerable playing situations. There is a great variety of fairways with streams running through and ample greens which are made difficult by their undulations and split levels.
I recommend that you pay a visit to Flamingos Golf Club at least once during your stay, it is one course that will stay in your memory the longest! It functions on a pay and play basis and is situated between San Pedro and Estepona just off the Cancelada roundabout.
