Ice Skating in Benalmadena - Well who’d have thought?? Ice skating on the Costa del Sol….strange but true! This recently opened sports facility is fantastic.
If you are in your car The Club De Hielo is not too difficult to find in Calle Ciudad de Melilla, Benaldmadena, Its location is fairly central to Benalmadena town close to where it merges with Arroyo de la Miel and not too far away from Tivoli World. There is ample parking on site too, so in the busy summer months there is no problem. Otherwise the local buses 1 and 2 stop off at the parade nearby.
As well as housing the only ice rink on the Costa del Sol, this sports facility also has an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, medical centre sports shop and cafeteria, as well as offering classes in pilates, taichi and more. If you think you might become a regular here it is possible to invest in a ‘tarjeta sport’ or sports card. This will give you money off on many activities that are held here.
The ice-rink has daily public sessions of 2-3 hours duration each and is open Monday – Friday 12.00pm – 2.00pm and again at 8.00pm – 10.00pm. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays the rink is open 11.00am – 2.00pm and then from 4pm until 10.00pm. Friday and Saturday nights there is an ice-skating disco from 10.30pm until 12.30am.
Prices for ice skating in benalmadena are 6 euro (without card) 4 euro (with) for children aged 5 – 17 years. Over 18’s pay 9 euro (without card) 6 euro (with) and there are concessions for OAP’s. They ask that you wear long trousers, socks and gloves and skate hire is 3.75 euro (without card) and 3 euro (with). They recommend that children be at least 5 years old to enjoy this facility.
The state of the art gymnasium here has facilities for many different keep fit techniques from the usual gym gear to cycling, weights, aerobic and dance classes. A full timetable is available on their website and there are many tariffs available depending on your needs, from day membership to yearly.
The 8 lane indoor swimming pool is maintained at a constant temperature of 28.5 degrees and has a depth ranging from 1.2 metres to 1.6 metres. There is also a smaller children’s pool which is a constant 30 degrees. There are many swimming programmes available for free-swim, aqua-aerobics and swimming lessons.
