La Duquesa Golf Course
La Duquesa Golf Course was designed by the well known architect Robert Trent Jones and built in 1985. La Duquesa Golf winds around El Hacho Beacon Hill 500m from Duquesa Port with magnificent views over the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains in Africa.
This demanding course will require accurate driving and concentration on most of its holes which tend to "camber" around the mountain. For example, the 17th-hole, par 3 is only 125m long but has a huge drop of 30m, "A challenge for any golfer"!
La Duquesa Golf Course has some very good practice facilities including golf lessons for all standards of players. The club also has a Gym, Snooker room, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Tennis and Squash courts which can all be used for a reasonable charge.
I found this course a delight to play, even with its cambers and undulations, not only for the golf, but for the fantastic clubhouse, beautiful surroundings and friendly atmosphere. Another big plus for me was the fact that it is just a short walk to the port of Duquesa with its many restaurants and charming beach bars.
All in all Duquesa itself is a place I thoroughly recommend that you visit during your stay on the Costa del Sol, and La Duquesa Golf Course should be on your list too.
