Marbella Gun and Country Club

For the adventurous among you, a day spent at the Marbella Gun and Country Club is a must while visiting the Costa del Sol. Nestled in the hills behind the historic town of Monda, which itself is only 15minutes from Marbella town.

To get there in your car, take the junction of the N-340 at the La Canada shopping centre and follow the signs up the hill to Ojen and Monda. After about 20/25km you will see Monda Castle up on the hillside and the junction for Monda town. Take this road under and follow it through to the town of Monda itself. Once out the other side of the town Marbella Gun and Country Club is well signposted and can be found up a few twisty roads in the stunning countryside of Andalucia.

Set in 140 acres of pristine countryside in the foothills of the Sierra de las Nieves you will notice immediately how peaceful this whole area is, and not a crane in sight either!

The club has a full quota of outdoor activities you can take part in ranging from clay-pigeon shooting, archery, air pistol target shooting, horse-riding to off-road quad bike riding and archery. As its name suggests, they do offer the chance to game shoot too. Contact the club for more details on this sport.

If you want to enjoy some of the sports on offer, it is best to check beforehand by phone, as The Gun and Country Club does hold a lot of corporate events, so best not to be disappointed.

All of their instructors are fully qualified and are quite willing, however much of a novice you are, to take you step by step through the activities.

The horse riding for example offers riders the chance to just walk through the surrounding countryside to full day treks a bit further beyond with overnight camp-outs for the intrepid amongst you. They even have a horse drawn carriage available by appointment for those not wishing to ride!

The facilities that surround the actual club house make for a relaxing

day out just in itself! The clubhouse is a ‘log cabin’ design, very in keeping with the terrain, and has first class restaurant and bar facilities. There is a formal restaurant with a capacity of 200 people that can be hired for private functions. This is open from 7.30pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Alternatively there is the slightly more relaxed area outside on the terrace with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains!

It is possible to come here and just enjoy the wonderful pool and restaurant facilities for the day. Being in the country, away from any sea breezes it does get amazingly hot and humid in the summer months!
