NUEVA ANDALUCIA
Nueva Andalucia is situated a few hundred metres to the north of Puerto Banus and is proving to be an up and coming are in its own right. It is where most of the urbanisations of Puerto Banus have been built and its easy access to the town has proved its success.
The main focal point is the Bullring, which has recently been restored and renovated as an open-air concert arena and has many groups booked to play there. Alongside the Bullring is Centro Commercial Centro Plaza, which has wonderful boutiques, interior design shops, beauty salons and gymnasium as well as offices.
This is the focal point of the Saturday market or Rastro which is huge and has many stalls selling everything from leather goods to arts and crafts and is definitely well worth the visit. One word of advice though, parking. A lot of people park in nearby Puerto Banus and walk up, or park well away from the market area. The police are very hot on towing cars away on market day….don’t let yours be one of them!!
Many of the best restaurants can be found in this area and Nueva Andalucia really is making quite a name for itself for this reason. There are some first class restaurants (that will leave a dent in your pocket), but there are also many more that cater for a more reasonable budget and families on holiday.
As you drive away from the sea, you will encounter many magnificent villas and houses, worth a drive around in itself!! You will also notice more and more golf courses. This is the Costa del Golf or the original "Golf Valley" with about ten first class golf courses in the local area, suiting every budget and standard of player, it really is a golfers paradise!!
There are a few hotels in this area, but it is mostly private rental of apartments that people look for in Nueva Andalucia.
