Parque Aquatico Mijas on the Costa del Sol

Who can resist the thrills and spills of the water park at Parque Aquatico Mijas, definitely fun for all the family! Just 26km from Marbella the Parque Aquatico Mijas is actually on the outskirts of Fuengirola and is very easy to get to. If you are in a car, come off the CN-340 (A-7) at km 209 and the waterpark is well signposted from here.

Alternatively if you are coming in by bus or train, there is a half hourly bus straight to the waterpark that takes just over 5minutes. If you are walking from the centre of Fuengirola it’ll take about 20 minutes to get there. Alternatively if you are staying in one of Fuengirola’s many hotels, you will be a stone’s throw away from it.

During April and May the Parque Aquatico Mijas opens at 10.30am – 5.30pm, otherwise it opens daily at 10.00 with varied closing times up to 7.00pm in July and August. The park is closed from October through to April.

Entrance can be paid for individually or by grouped family prices, for example: Adults 14.50 euro, children (4 – 12years) 9.50 with children up to 3 years going free! OR there are 4 family group tariffs:

During high season it is best to come early if possible as quite a few hotels up and down the coast offer this park as a trip and it doesn’t take long for the coaches to start pulling up!

Once inside the park you can hire lockers to keep the valuables safe (most people do, and they are monitored for safety) and there are changing rooms on site with shower facilities too. You are allowed to bring your own food here for a picnic the park does prefer, however, that you refrain from bringing glass bottles. Deckchairs and sun-beds are available for hire as are floats.

The most important thing to remember when visiting the Aqua-Park, is KEEP APPLYING THE SUNSCREEN! It’s very easy to get carried away and forget. Also, it’s a good idea to bring t-shirt’s for the kids to wear in the water if their shoulders start to colour (and yours as well for that matter!)

The Parque Aquatico Mijas is broken down into about 10 different zones, with something to suit everyone, of any age! You have the intrepid Kamakazee slides and the Labyrinth slides for the brave! Wild River and Adventure River where you lie in massive inner tubes and all ending up in big plunge pool at the bottom, through to the wave pool and the Blue Lake near the jacuzzi’s.

There is also the 4-lane body ski slide, where you can all slide down together! Young or old, big or small plenty of fun I think you’ll agree!

If you fancy a breather, there is a kiddies play area with 2 shallow play pools for the little ones located near Lizard Island that has interactive waterplay for kids as well as mini-golf, rock climbing a games arcade and a stage set up for the summer shows!

From the middle of June the Aqua-Park has daily water aerobics, music and dance shows as well as a daily parrot show for the kids.

The restaurant and bar facilities on site are, in my opinion, good value for money and have quite a good selection of things on offer if you are choosing to eat here, although it is worth bringing a bottle of your own water just for regular quenching!

The Parque Aquatico Mijas can be found at CN-340 km209, 29649, Mijas Costa (Outskirts of Fuengirola)
