Santa Maria Golf and Country Club
Situated just 5km from Marbella town the Santa Maria Golf and Country Club the first 9 holes of this course were initially opened in 1991 with the final nine completed some years later. The course follows the contours of the valleys with streams, lakes and waterfalls forming the natural hazards of the course.
There are now plans underway to design a further 18 holes and create an even more challenging course and to update the existing clubhouse and facilities too.
I have played this course quite a few times and really enjoy it every time. There are a few par four holes where I can pitch the green from the tee, including the first, so there is your fist challenge! However, many holes can catch you out into thinking you are better than you actually are so beware.
The course is very pretty but quite steep and undulating in parts so you may want a buggy if you are lazy like me.
